Join us for a three-course dinner with wine at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham. The dinner will be the focus of our 40 year celebration and will include a speech by Sir Neil Cossons, AIM President and founding member, in celebration of AIM’s 40th anniversary. Early booking is advisable.
All conference delegates are invited to a drinks reception prior to the AIM dinner. You do not have to book to attend the drinks reception but you do need to book to attend the dinner.
Drinks are provided during the reception and with dinner and a cash bar is also available.
Dress code: Smart Casual. Please note that high heels and stilettos are not permitted in ‘Command of the Oceans’ due to the flooring.
7.00pm: Drinks reception kindly sponsored by Hayes Parsons Insurance Brokers, hosted at ‘Command of the Oceans’.
All conference delegates are invited to the AIM drinks reception with time to explore the four superb new interactive galleries – ‘Command of the Oceans’. The brand new ‘Command of the Oceans’ visitor experience features four interactive galleries, two significant archaeological discoveries and a restored historic environment. Command of the Oceans has the latest design technology that will take you on a voyage back to the ‘Age of Sail’.
8.00pm: AIM Dinner, kindly sponsored by Axiell ALM hosted at The Mess Deck.
AIM dinner guests can then enjoy a three-course dinner with wine, hosted at The Mess Deck, a brand-new building at the Historic Dockyard Chatham, reminiscent of an old time sailing ship.

Friday 23 June
AIM Friday Night Social Event
Friday evening’s social event includes a drinks reception at Upnor Castle with drinks kindly sponsored by Absolute Museum & Gallery Products. Coaches will then leave Upnor Castle for a barbeque at Fort Amherst.
5.45pm: Coaches from hotels to Upnor Castle
6.00pm: Arrival at Upnor Castle. Drinks from Kent producers have been kindly sponsored by Absolute Museum & Gallery Products.
Set in tranquil grounds adjoining a riverside village, this rare example of an Elizabethan artillery fort was begun in 1559 and redeveloped in 1599-1601, to protect warships moored at Chatham dockyards.
7.00pm: Coaches depart for Fort Amherst
7.15pm: Arrival and walk through the tunnels at Fort Amherst. Originally constructed during Napoleonic times in preparation for a possible invasion, Chatham’s Fort Amherst offers visitors over 300 years of fascinating military history.
Discover how the tunnels were used during Napoleonic times for shelter, storage and defence. Also, discover the strategic role that the tunnels of Fort Amherst played during World War II as a base of operations.
8.00pm: Barbeque and paid bar at Fort Amherst on the Belvedere lawn and Guardhouse
8.30pm: Ghost tour of Fort Amherst. Enjoy a spooky night time tour around one of Kent’s most paranormally active locations and hear tales of strange occurrences in the 300-year history of Fort Amherst.
10.30pm: Coaches back to hotels
Study Tour – Saturday 24 June

The Saturday study tour will be to inspirational local attractions in Kent: Turner Contemporary in Margate and The Powell-Cotton Museum, Quex Park.
